The Hays High girls opened the 39th annual Orange and Black Classic in Colby on Thursday taking on the Beloit Trojans.
Beloit took the lead midway through the first quarter and never gave it up beating Hays 43-30.
Hays had three leads in the first quarter. The last was at 6-5 with 5:35 showing on the clock. The Trojans took lead less than a minute later. Hays would tie the game twice in the first half but could never grab the lead.
Beloit took a four point lead at 22-18 into halftime after the Indians didn't score for the final 4:35 of the second quarter and last seven field goals of the half.
Hays had the ball down by two four times in the third quarter but was unable to score. The Indians were outscored 11-6 in the third quarter. Beloit pushed their lead to nine at 33-24.
Hays was never closer than seven rest of the way as Beloit would take the win 43-30, moving on to the tournament semifinals.
Beloit had 25 turnovers in the game but held a 41-17 edge in rebounding.
Molly Martin led Hays with 14 points.
The Indians fall to 5-4 on the season while Beloit improves to 6-3.
