A storm system that covered a large portion of western Kansas Thursday night brought 0.29 inches of rain to Hays.

It was the first moisture recorded by the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town.

So far this year, Hays has received 1.08 inches of moisture. The average total by the end of March is 2.46 inches.

Thursday's overnight low was 33 degrees, the first time the overnight temperature has been above freezing in Hays since January 15, according to the research center.

The three-day weather forecast calls for dry weather through the weekend.
