Dennis V. Bollig, age 70, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Hays Medical Center. He was born June 16, 1950, in Hays, Kansas, to Virgil and Adalinda (Leikam) Bollig. On May 4, 1974, he married Kristine Day at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis.
Dennis had worked as a cook for many years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Sr. Companions and Foster Grandparents. He enjoyed cooking for family and attending his grandchildren’s events.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Kristine of Ellis; two sons, Matthew Bollig and wife Jennifer of Ellis and Tom Bollig and wife Nicole of Lawrence, Kansas; three granddaughters, Trinity and Isabella Bollig of Ellis and Addy Bollig of Lawrence; a brother, Wayne Bollig and wife Connie of Topeka, Kansas, two sisters, Karen Strachen of Russell, Kansas and Donna Brohman of Downs, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Cory; his in-laws, Jim and Adeline Day; and a brother-in-law, Jay Strachan.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. A rosary service will be at 9:30 AM at the church. Private family inurnment in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sr. Companion Program or the Foster Grandparents Program.
