3 hospitalized after pickup crash due to high winds on I-70

SHERMAN COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 12:30p.m. Friday in Sherman County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Ford F350 pulling a trailer and driven by  Andrew Parks, 58, Littleton, Colorado, was eastbound on Interstate 70 just east of County Road 11.

The driver lost control due to the wind. The pickup rolled onto its side and disconnect from its trailer.

The pickup then slid into the passing lane and into the path of an eastbound semi while its trailer blocked both lanes of eastbound I-70. The semi struck the pickup making the pickup roll onto its roof. The semi lost control and drove through the guard rail into the south ditch.

EMS transported Parks and two adult passengers to the hospital in Goodland for treatment of minor injuries.  The KHP had incomplete seat belt usage information.
