TOPEKA, Kan. – The 41st annual KSHSAA Boys State Soccer Championships have been relocated to Hummer Sports Park in Topeka. The three consolation matches and three championship matches will be played as originally scheduled on November 7.
Following the tragic incident that occurred at Scheels Stryker Sports Complex on October 17, KSHSAA determined that relocating the championships was in the best interest of participating schools and communities impacted by the tragedy.
After discussions with representatives from Scheels Stryker Sports Complex and Visit Wichita, all parties expressed understanding and support for the decision.
“Larry Inlow and his team at Stryker, along with Josh Howell and Visit Wichita, have been outstanding hosts for KSHSAA events for many years,” said Bill Faflick, KSHSAA Executive Director. “We recognize that the events of two weeks ago have deeply affected many within our membership. Relocating this year’s championship event is a gesture of respect for those communities and all who continue to feel the impact of that tragedy.”
Hummer Sports Park is no stranger to state championship soccer. Since opening in 2003, the facility has hosted the KSHSAA Boys State Soccer Championships 21 times and served as a state tournament site every year through 2024, before the event transitioned to a one-site, one-day format.
The championship schedule for November 7 will remain unchanged:
8:30 a.m. 6A Consolation Final
10:30 a.m. 4-1A Consolation Final
