Doris Ilene Groff was born on July 15, 1931, in Ellis County to Edgar and Clara Aust. She passed away at the age of 93 at Good Samaritan in Ellis, Kansas on August 28, 2024.
Doris graduated from Hays High School with the class of 1948. On February 3, 1949, she married the love of her life, Homer Groff. He preceded her in death February 16, 2007. Through their years of marriage, four children joined the family; Sandra, Diana, Phil, and Linda.
Besides being a homemaker, she also worked outside the home for several years. Her last job was office manager for Hays Orthopedic Group.
Over the years, Doris had many interests. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing bridge, golfing, bowling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Homer, brother Marvin and daughter Diana Santamaria.
She is survived by her daughters; Sandra Rafferty, Linda Calderone, son; Phil Groff, brother; Ed Aust, sister; Karen Noon, as well as her 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Brock's Chapel, 2509 Vine Street Hays, Kansas 67601. Visitation will be Friday, August 30, 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time all at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the services in the Mount Allen Cemetery - Hays, Kansas
