NW Kan. man hospitalized after semi strikes camper-trailer

GOVE COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 3:30p.m. Saturday in Gove County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1999 Kenworth semi driven by Fernando Rescalvo-Ortega, 28, Quinter, was  westbound on Interstate 70 two miles east of Oakley.

The semi left the roadway to the left and the driver overcorrected. The semi traveled off the roadway a second time and when the driver overcorrected the vehicle struck the camper trailer pulled by a Ford F350 and driven by Gary Pitt, 86, Harrisonville, Missouri.

EMS transported Rescalvo-Ortega to the Logan County Hospital. Pitt and a passenger in the pickup were not injured. All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
