The Fort Hays State women's basketball team jumped two spots in this week's D2SIDA Media Poll, moving to 12th, while holding on to the fifth spot in the WBCA Division II Coaches Poll. Both polls were released on Tuesday.
The Tigers picked up 468 points in the voting process in the coaches ranks, up 33 from last week. FHSU broke a tie with Alaska-Anchorage to hold onto the fifth spot alone this week. MIAA rival Nebraska-Kearney moved into the top 10 in 10th place, while Missouri Western appeared in the receiving votes category this week.
Fort Hays State gained 57 additional points in this week's media poll, enough to pass two schools in its move to 12th. The Tigers are now second in the D2SIDA Central Region rankings after coming in third one week ago, with UNK coming in fifth nationally and tops in the region.
Defending national champion Lubbock Christian now sits in first in both national polls, including a narrow one-point lead over Drury in the media poll.
The Tigers are now 121-32 all-time when ranked in the WBCA DII Coaches Poll, including an 18-4 mark when they are ranked fifth. FHSU has played and won more games as the fifth-ranked team than any other spot in the top 25.
Fort Hays State will resume play after the holiday break with a stretch of four games in eight days. The run begins on January 1, 2022 when the Tigers play on New Year's Day for the first time in program history at Northeastern State beginning at 1:30 p.m.
