AUGUSTA – The Hays Larks scored five runs over the first two innings and then held off a late Cannons rally in a 12-6 win Wednesday in Augusta.
The Larks took advantage of an error, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. In the second, CJ Reid and Kaleb Duncan added back-to-back RBI singles putting Hays up 5-1.
Reid added an RBI double and Kaiden Ashton followed with a run-scoring triple for a 7-4 Larks lead.
After the Cannons got a run back in the seventh Hays exploded for five more runs in the ninth inning.
Wilbert Espinal and Tabor Stokes added run-scoring singles in the top of the inning and then Thomas Lyssy cleared the bases with a three-run triple as the Larks go on to pick up the 12-6 victory.
Kaleb Duncan finished 4-for-5 with two RBI's and two runs scored. Thomas Lyssy added three RBI's.
The Larks return home and begin a three-game weekend series Friday with the Colorado Roughriders.
