The Ellis County Historical Society plans an access ramp for entry to the 143-year-old limestone church located at 100 W. Seventh in downtown Hays.
This project is funded in part by a grant from the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund of the Heartland Community Foundation.
As we passionately work toward restoring and utilizing our main campus building, it is imperative that our limited gallery space of the historic stone church be accessible to all in our community.
The access ramp at this entrance will ensure that the history we share and display may continue to be viewed, treasured and relevant to generations young and old.
Currently on display in the gallery is the Sternberg Firearm Collection which is open Saturdays and Sundays 1 to 4 p.m.
The Historical Society looks to have more general hours of weekday operations in 2023.
By utilizing generous grants like those from the Heartland Foundation, ECHS can reach towards ambitious goals while continuing to be mindful of a nonprofit budget.
The society’s staff and board are excited and grateful for the growing support in the efforts of Save Our Past’s Future.
