8.5" of snow in Hays, so far

A winter snowstorm that blanketed much of northwest Kansas Wednesday night into Thursday morning brought 8.5 inches of snow to Hays, yielding 0.25 of an inch of moisture.

The official measurement from the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town was taken shortly after 8 a.m.

So far this year, Hays has received 0.81 of moisture. The 153-year-cumulative average through the end of the year is 2.46 inches.

Light snow is forecasted to continue until mid-day. A winter storm warning remains in place until noon.
