Mary Ardis Proberts

Mary Ardis Proberts, died October 14, 2020. Born January 7, 1953, in Kinsley, Kansas, she was the daughter of John D. and Ardis F. Countryman.

Mary proudly raised and is survived by four sons: Darin (Teresa) Proberts, Jeremiah (Denise) Proberts, Nickolaus Proberts, and Kevin (Trina) Proberts; and a daughter Michelle (Robert) Swinney. She cherished her twelve grandchildren: Brandon, Sarah, Megan, Caleb, Andrew, Luke, Katelyn, Courtney (deceased), Sheldon, Toby, Joleigh and Charlie; one great-granddaughter Olivia; and her dog, Taco.

Mary was loved by all who knew her and was happiest when hosting a family reunion or one of her many parties at her home. She was a life-long singer and musician performing with her brothers and many friends over the years. Many people in Kinsley know her from her years of running a daycare. She worked at the Offerle Country store and served as a home health aide; however, she was most proud of her role as a Certified Medication Aide at Brookdale Senior Living Center for the past 24 years.

She is survived by John “Wayne” & Cheryl Countryman of Manhattan, KS., Earl “David” Countryman of Emporia, KS., Robert “Bobby” and Patricia Countryman of Wichita, KS., Julia and Dan Hohn of Nixa, MO., Kathy Countryman of Rock Springs, WY. and Virgil and Kathy Countryman of Emporia, KS.

She was proceded in death by her parents, Five brothers James (Jimmy) Countryman, Arthur “Freddy” Countryman, Harold “Gene” Countryman, Samuel “Sammy” Countryman, Charles “Eddie” Countryman, and sister Elsie Arb.

A memorial service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery in Kinsley at 11 AM, Monday, October 19th. The public is invited.

Arrangements are under the direction of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookdale Senior Living of Dodge City.
