SMITH CENTER – The TMP-Marian Monarchs earned a doubleheader sweep of Smith Center Friday night.
Girls: TMP 64, Smith Center 52
The TMP-Marian Lady Monarchs used a 20-2 second half run as they rallied from down nine on their way to a 64-52 win.

The Smith Center Lady Red jumped out to an early 9-3 first quarter lead and they led by five twice in the first quarter before TMP put together a 10-2 run to end the first quarter with a 18-16 lead.
The Monarchs led by four, at 22-18 early in the second quarter but Smith Center was able to string together a 12-1 run to lead by seven at 30-23. TMP trailed by seven at the halftime break 34-27.
Midway through the third quarter Smith Center led 43-38 before TMP went on a 20-2 run to end the third quarter and open the fourth quarter putting TMP on top 58-45.
Smith Center briefly closed the deficit to eight but the Monarchs were able to pull away from the 64-52 win.
Game highlights
TMP’s Jaci VonLintel scored a team-high 18 points and collected eight rebounds. Kyleigh Allen added 14 points and Emilee Lane and Megan Hamel each finished with 12 points from TMP.
The Monarchs improve to 11-3 and 5-1 in the MCL with the win.
Boys: TMP 68, Smith Center 32
The TMP boys used a 29-4 run to end the first quarter and in the second quarter as they cruised to the win.
The game was tight early with the Monarchs lead by one at 5-4 Jackson Schulte knocked down his first of back-to-back three pointers giving TMP an 11-6 lead.
Leading 11-9 the Monarchs scored four straight points to end the first quarter and then held Smith Center to just four points in the second quarter while they scored 25 in the quarter, capping off the 29-4 run. TMP led at halftime 40-13
In the third quarter TMP outscored Smith Center 18-5 to build a 40-point lead at 58-18.
TMP led by 41 points through three quarters of action 63-22.
With the continuous clock in the fourth quarter TMP earned the 68-32 win.
