The Ellis County Health Department on Friday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days rose from six on Wednesday to eight on Friday.
There were 28 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Wednesday. There are currently 85 active cases, including 10 active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 3,166 recovered cases.
As of Friday, there were 24 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, up from 22 Thursday, with 23 of those cases active and one in the recovery phase.
The seven-day average of percent of positive tests increase from 12.2 percent Wednesday to 14.7 percent Friday.
Since reporting began, there have been 3,295 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 44 coronavirus-related deaths.
Of the total 18,051 tests administered, 17.1 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.
