More development in Hays will be discussed by city commissioners during their Thursday work session.
Two resolutions are being sought for the new location of Vernie's Trux-N-Equip on six acres northwest of the intersection of 48th Street and General Hays Road. It's the site of the former Hays Livestock sales barn.
The developer plans to seek the establishment of a community improvement district and the issuance of industrial revenue bonds for the $2.2 million project. No property tax abatement is requested.
The city also has a request for a $300,000 community development block grant for Chestnut Suites to redevelop 1108 North Main in downtown Hays into a new luxury short-term rental Airbnb location.
Also on the May 16 agenda is consideration of a contract renewal for the city attorney.
The work session begins at 4 p.m. in Hays City Hall, 1507 Main.
