⚾ Larks hit three home runs in shutout won over Cougars

HAYS – The Hays Larks scored early and got excellent pitching and shutout the Denver Cougars 10-0 in the middle game of their three-game Rocky Mountain Baseball League series at Larks Park Saturday night.

The Larks (6-2, 2-0 RMBL) have won two-straight and five of their last six games. The Cougars (6-3, 5-3 RMBL) have lost two-straight following a four-game win streak.

Starting pitcher Luuk ter Beek (2-0) allowed one hit over five innings with three strikeouts and one walk and picked up the win. Dallas Baptist senior Preston Tabor pitched two perfect innings of relief in his debut, striking out three and walking none in the game which was called after seven innings by run-rule.

The Larks scored five in the bottom of the first, three of them on Cougar errors. Trent Baker added a three-run homer in the fourth. Tyler LaRue and Garrett Gruell hit back-to-back home runs to lead off the seventh to end the game early.

The Larks and Cougars close out the three-game RMBL series with a non-league game Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free courtesy of Downing Nelson Oil/Michael Hatton OD & Nicholas Mondero OD. The game will also be broadcast on KAYS (1400 AM/94.3 FM).
