⚾ Larks walk-off Lumberjax to win home opener

HAYS - Cade Green singled to right field scoring Cooper Holtorf with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Hays Larks a 1-0 win over the Colorado Lumberjax in their home opener Friday night at Larks Park.

Holtorf walked with one out then advanced to second on a balk then eventually third on another balk.

Four Larks (5-0, 5-0 RMBL) pitchers combined to strike out 19 batters in a five-hit shutout. Starter Julio Ramos fanned four over three scoreless innings. Simon Lunsford struck out eight and didn't allow a hit over the next three innings. Braden Cox then had three strikeouts and gave up three hits over two innings of relief. 

Jaxon Ramos (1-0) worked around a leadoff double and a walk by getting a groundout and two strikeouts in the ninth. He sent the Lumberjax down in order in the 10th and picked up the win allowing hit and striking out four over the final two innings.

Green, Max Flowers and Sean Keenan each had two hits for the Larks who had eight hits on the night, three of them doubles.

The Larks and Lunberjax conclude the two-game series Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Larks Park. It's Military Appreciation Night with free admission courtesy of VFW Post 9076, VFW Auxiliary, Midwest Energy, the Hays Kiwanis Club and M&D Excavating.
