Hays sets record high Sunday; fire warning in effect

Hays set a record high of 76 degrees on Sunday, according to the K-State Ag Research Center.

The National Weather Service forecasts the high in Hays today to be 80 degrees. 

Today and tonight Hays and the region have a significant to critical fire danger. This afternoon a red flag warning is in effect.

Tuesday through Saturday strong winds with gusts in excess of 50 mph are possible in advance and behind a cold front sometime in the afternoon Tuesday. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Clark, Comanche and Barber counties for Tuesday afternoon.  

Tuesday's forecast for Hays is a high of 63 with winds gusts reaching up to 55 mph in the afternoon. The National Weather Service warns of a possibility of blowing dust.

Temperatures will drop rapidly on Tuesday with a forecast overnight low of 18 and a high Wednesady of 47 degrees.

Temperatures will rebound to the 50s and 60s on Thursday and Friday. It is forecast to remain breezy through the week with no chances of precipitation.
