Hays hit a new record low overnight with a low of -11, according to the K-State Ag Research Center.
The high for Thursday was 10.
Hays is forecast to see a dramatic warming trend starting Saturday into next week.
The forecast for today is partly sunny with a slight chance of snow between noon and 1 p.m. The high is forecast to be 26 with the windchill as low as -9.
The overnight low is forecast to be 7, with windchills as low -1.
On Saturday, the warmth returns with a high forecast to be 51. The high for Sunday is forecast to be 66, 70 on Monday and 66 on Tuesday, with sunny skies through mid-week.
