🥎 Monarchs run win streak to six with sweep over Pratt Skyline

PRATT - The TMP-Marian Monarch softball team ran their win-streak to six games Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep over Pratt-Skyline. The Monarchs defeated the Thunderbirds 8-4 in game one then 13-3 in six innings in the second contest.

TMP-Marian improved to 9-3 on the season. The Monarchs travel to Dodge City for a doubleheader on Friday.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 8, Pratt-Skyline 4
The Monarchs scored two runs in the second, third and fourth innings. Maddie Augustine got them on the board with a two-out RBI single in the second. Brooke Koeningsman hit an inside the park home run and Addison Watson doubled which scored Jaci VonLintel to push the lead to 3-0 in the third.

After the Thunderbirds scored twice in the bottom of the inning to close the gap to 3-2, the Monarchs added two more in the fourth on a passed ball and Halle Dreiling single.

Koeningsman homered and doubled. Watson also had two hits including a double. Maddie Augustine drove in two runs and also picked up the complete game victory in the circle. She allowed only one earned run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Game 2: TMP-Marian 13, Pratt-Skyline 3 (6 innings)
TMP grabbed the early lead with four runs in the top of the second. Sophie Allen drove in Nicole Schumacher with a single. Teagan Gottschalk also scored on an error. Hannah Garcia followed with a two-run single to center.

The Thunderbirds answered with two in the bottom of the inning then scored a run in the third to close the gap to 4-3.

The game stayed that way until the fifth when the Monarchs scored four. Hannah Garcia opened the inning with a four-pitch walk and later scored on a groundout. Jaci VonLintel followed with an RBI single which scored Halle Dreiling. A Schumacher groundout scored VonLintel then Addison Watson came home following an error.

TMP added five runs, all with two outs, in the sixth.

Koeningsman and VonLintel both had two hits. Koeningsman tripled and VonLintel doubled and tripled. Garcia and Watson both drove in two runs.

Maddie Augustine (7-3) scattered five hits with two strikeouts and a walk and picked up the complete game victory.
