James Wayne "Jim” Dowling, 70, passed away on April 8, 2022, in Oberlin,
KS. He was born on June 2, 1951, in Oberlin, KS to Arthur J. Dowling and
Vivian Mae Landau.
Jim was raised in Oberlin and graduated from Decatur Community High
School in 1969. After high school he attended Fort Hays State
University. In 1981 Jim married Teresa Shields in Oberlin, KS and to
that union they had 2 children: Tucker and Tara. Jim loved to be
outdoors especially being at the lake. He also loved to spend time with
his dog, Dexter, and all 6 of his grandchildren. Jim was a
self-employed contractor who was very meticulous about his carpentry and
wood working projects.
Jim is survived by children: Tucker Dowling of Oberlin, KS and Tara
and husband JB Harding of Hays, KS; grandchildren: Maddox Dowling,
Aydhun Byars, Ryker Dowling, Kaden Harding, Alyssa Harding, and Addyson
Harding; sisters: Ann Williams of Tempe, AZ and Jane Dowling of Tempe,
AZ. Jim was preceded by his parents and niece Julie Williams.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 11:00
AM at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin. Burial in Oberlin Cemetery.
