INDIANOLA, Iowa -Former Hays High state champion wrestler Sarah Zimmerman has qualified for the NCWWC Championships. Zimmerman, who is a sophomore at NCAA Division III Simpson College (IA), went 3-1 and placed third at the NCWWC REGION VII hosted by Simpson College.
Zimmerman made a statement with a commanding 10-0 shutout over Wartenburg's Hope Chiatello to open her day. After falling to eventual champion and No. 2 ranked Ava Bayless, Zimmerman responded with back-to-back pins to clinch the third place finish and trip to nationals. Her final pin over Paw Hobza (Sioux Falls) came in just 27 seconds.
