New tool will help deputies in NW Kansas vehicle pursuits

THOMAS COUNTY—The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office received a new Grappler Police Bumper tool thanks to the Thomas County Attorney’s office.

According to a social media report, the Grappler is installed on the front of patrol trucks and helps stop vehicles during vehicle pursuits.

The sheriff's office thanked the public for their patience while the road was temporarily shut down for training. They also thanked the Thomas County Attorney’s Office for the purchase of the Grappler, Northwest Fire Extinguisher for the use of a vehicle for training, Thomas County Highway department for blocking off a safe roadway for practice using the new tool, Thomas County Emergency Management for the drone footage and Kansas Highway Patrol for coming out and training with us.
