Per-day virus rate falls slightly in Ellis Co.; 14 new cases identified

The Ellis County Health Department on Monday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days fell slightly from seven on Friday to six on Monday. 

There were 14 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Friday. There are currently 68 active cases, including six active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 3,536 recovered cases.

As of Monday, there were 15 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 17 on Friday, with seven of those active patients and eight in the recovery phase.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests rose to 7.7 percent.

Since reporting began, there have been 3,604 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County. Of the total 22,135 tests administered, 15 percent have returned positive for coronavirus.

NOTE: "New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. "Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so KDHE figures might not necessarily correspond.
