WICHITA – The Hays High boys golf team qualified two for next week’s 5A State Tournament. Blake Buckles shot a 10-over par 82 and placed sixth at the Maize Regional at Reflection Ridge Golf Course. Braxton Banker finished 13th after a 15-over 87.
Emporia’s Brookston Sauder won the individual title by one shot over Grier Jones of Maize with a 3-over par, 75.
Emporia won the team title with a 324, 17 shots better than Valley Center. Hays placed fifth with a 357.
The 5A State Tournament is next Monday and Tuesday at the Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield.
