Fort Hays State Football travels to Central Missouri on Saturday (Oct. 23) for a 1:30 pm kickoff at Walton Stadium. The Tigers are looking to get back on the winning track, entering the game on a two-game losing skid. FHSU is 3-4, while UCM is 2-5 on the season.
Fort Hays State has won four of the last six meetings between the teams. However, the Tigers have lost their last two contests played in Warrensburg, looking for their first win at Walton Stadium since 2014. In 2019, Fort Hays State opened the season at Central Missouri and saw UCM come back to win 34-30 with a late fourth quarter rally. UCM leads the all-time series with FHSU 10-6.
Fort Hays State owns the 11th-best total offense production in NCAA Division II, averaging 469.6 yards per game. FHSU ranks 12th nationally and second in the MIAA in passing yards at 312.3 per game. Central Missouri is not far behind in passing production at 306 yards per game through the air.
Central Missouri has struggled this season defensively, allowing 499.4 yards per game. That ranks 159th out of 163 teams in NCAA Division II. Only Lincoln University allows more yards per game in the MIAA, ranking last in the nation at 560.2 allowed per game. UCM has allowed at least 29 points in all but one contest this season.
Adrian Soto continues to elevate on the national charts in rushing yards per carry and all-purpose yards per game. He ranks fourth nationally in yards per rush (7.7) and fifth in all-purpose yards per game (176.7).
Chance Fuller continues to rank 10th in NCAA Division II for passing yards, now with 2,043 on the season. He is now just three touchdown passes shy of the FHSU career record of 60 held by Jacob Mezera. Four passing touchdowns would push him into the all-time lead.
On the defensive side of the ball, Myles Menges leads the Tigers in tackles with 49. John Johnson has racked up 26 tackles over the last two weeks with 14 at Washburn and 12 against Central Oklahoma. Devin White has the team's only interception this season, while Dalton Kuhn and Javaris Sanders lead in sacks each with three.
