
Thomas F. Richardson, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at his home in
Garden City. He was born Dec. 1, 1940, in Hutchinson,
the son of Robert E. and Bette Jean Richardson.
Tom lived in various places throughout the state of Kansas and has
been a resident of Garden City since 1995. After high school, Tom
attended and graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield and
from the University of Washburn Law School.
He began his working
career in private practice as an attorney. He later became a municipal judge, an administrative law judge, a district court judge, and most
recently as a special administrative law judge. Tom was a member of the
Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas Golf Association in which he
served on the board of directors, rated golf courses, and officiated
countless golf tournaments. He loved to spend his time playing golf and
was an avid reader.
On Dec. 26, 1997, he married Mary Wehkamp in Scott City. She survives. Other survivors include two sons Robert Austin
Richardson of Avon, Colo., and Benjamin Thomas and wife Erika
Richardson of Augusta; a sister Jody Carner of Decatur, Ga.;
three grandchildren Olivia, Emma and Elise Richardson; and two nieces
Rebecca and Rachael. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and an
Aunt Maralee Brackelsberg.
A private family service will be at a later date. There will
be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to Friends of
Buffalo Dunes Foundation or to the Finney County Humane Society, both in
care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
