Weather has forced a change in this weekend's Fort Hays State baseball series against No. 20 Central Missouri. Initially slated for Saturday and Sunday in Warrensburg, Mo., the Tigers and Mules will now battle on Thursday and Friday (March 11-12).
The series will open with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday. First pitch in the series finale on Friday is to be determined. The teams will monitor Friday's rain forecast in an attempt to find a window in which to play.
Ed Scott has worked eight walks this season, tied for fourth-most in the MIAA. Drake Angeron ranks 10th in the league in hits with 15 and fourth in stolen bases with four.
Jake Campbell ranks 10th in the conference with 20 strikeouts this season, including seven punchouts looking, eighth-most in the league. Jacob Ensz' two saves are tied for first in the MIAA.
Central Missouri leads the all-time series 43-13, including a 19-6 edge in games played in Warrensburg. UCM has won the last 13 meetings, with the last Tiger victory coming in 2016 (8-7 in 10 innings, 2/26/16).
The Mules lead the MIAA with a batting average of .326. They've hit 12 home runs this season, second only behind Missouri Southern. Erik Webb leads the conference with 21 hits this season, while Josh Schumacher has a team-best .486 batting average. Mason Green is 3-0 over four starts on the mound, striking out 19 batters across 20.1 innings of work.
The Tigers and Mules were playing in a doubleheader at Larks Park one year ago on March 12, 2020 when the NCAA officially canceled all winter and spring championships and the MIAA postponed all remaining spring competition.
