OMAHA – The Hays Eagles Junior American Legion baseball team dropped their first two games at the Battle of Omaha Tournament Thursday. Hays dropped their opener 12-5 to Norris, Neb. then lost 11-3 to Burke-Primetime at Burke high school.
Norris scored seven runs in the top of the fifth inning to break open a one-run game in the opener. Cooper Sanders had two hits including a triple and drove in a run for the Junior Eagles.
Burke-Primetime scored at least one run in every inning in the second game. Caden Morgan led the Eagles at the plate with two of their five hits.
The Junior Eagles (3-7) play two more pool play games Friday.
The Senior Legion and 15U Eagles begin play in Omaha Monday.
