From cold and dreary to blazing hot in a hurry in NW Kansas

Posted May 26, 2022 6:39 PM

After several unseasonably cool and dreary days, the weather "completely reverses" this Memorial Day weekend, the National Weather Service in Dodge City reported.

Strong south winds will drive warm air into the area, with the mercury nearing triple digits by Sunday — accompanied by wind gusting up to 50 mph.

Skies will be clear through the weekend, with predicted highs of 87 Friday, 95 Saturday and 96 Sunday in the Hays area.

The next predicted chance of rainfall will be Tuesday, when there is a 50 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms.
