Doran and Glenda Knapp

Doran “Corky” Woodrow Knapp, age 82, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Via Christi Village in Hays. He was born April 24, 1937, in Bird City, Kansas, to Charles and Mildred (Phipps) Knapp. On August 12, 1968, he married Glenda Ann Binder. She passed away December 23, 2021.

Corky worked as a Surgical Technician at St. Anthony Hospital and Hadley Medical Center.  He enjoyed elk hunting, collecting die cast John Deere tractors, working in his yard, and his grandchildren and grand-dogs. 

He is survived by two sons, Doug (Angela) Knapp of Wichita, and Steve (Dawn) Knapp of Hays; three brothers, Jim Knapp of WaKeeney, KS, Tim (Janice) Knapp of Atwood, KS; and Tom Knapp of Olathe Ks; a sister Gay (Merle) Kruse of Sheridan WY; three grandchildren Trystan Knapp, Zoey Knapp and Cortin Knapp .

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karla Evel; a sister, Mary Stephens and two sisters-in-law, Patty Knapp and Renee Knapp.

Glenda Ann Knapp, age 79 of Hays, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Hays Medical Center. She was born June 2, 1942, in Hays to Isidore and Clara (Braun) Binder. She was a graduate of Hays High School. On August 12, 1968, she married Doran "Corky" Knapp in Hays. He preceded her in death February 15, 2020.

Glenda was a Daycare provider in Hays for 40 years. Aside from enjoying the children she cared for Glenda enjoyed cooking, baking, crossword and word search puzzles. She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Church.

She is survived by two sons, Doug Knapp and wife Angela of Wichita, Kansas and Steve Knapp and wife Dawn of Hays; two sisters, Firma Dreiling of San Marcos, Texas and Sherry Schmidt and husband Dave of Hays; as well as three grandchildren, Trystan Knapp, Zoey Knapp and Cortin Knapp all of Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karla Evel; a sister, Rosie Rupp; and two brothers, Floyd Binder and Vernon Binder.

Combined Funeral Services will be January 22, 2022, at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in Hays. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Memorial visitation will be 5 PM - 8 PM January 21, 2022,  at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
