A project to remove the railroad crossing on K-25 near Atwood is expected to start Wednesday, Sept. 4.

The Kansas Department of Transportation will be working in coordination with the Nebraska, Kansas & Colorado Railway on the removal of the cantilever flashing-light signals located on K-25 approximately 0.7 mile north of the U.S. 36 junction. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at the crossing and directed by flaggers.

Work to remove the signals expected to be complete in a day. KDOT plans to resurface the crossing area at a later date.
