Beginning on Wednesday, June 24th, weather pending, contractors will be rewiring the traffic signal equipment for the intersections of 22nd & Vine St. to repair damage that occurred from a lightning strike this past Spring.   Throughout the project, the signal lights may be intermittently flashing red, indicating a four-way stop, or even turned off completely.  Under these scenarios the intersection may be controlled with temporary stop signs at some or all legs of the intersection.

Drivers are asked to use extra caution when approaching and entering the intersection.  Avoid these areas, if possible, as travel delays can be expected.  Repairs are expected to be completed on or before the end of the day on Thursday, June 25th, 2026.

The City of Hays regrets any inconvenience this may cause to the public. If there are any questions, please call the Public Works Department at 785-628-7350.
