Kansas Department of Transportation
The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin a resurfacing project on a portion of U.S. 36 in Phillips County the week of July 13.
Work includes milling and overlay, rumble strip installation and striping on 13.5 miles of U.S. 36 from the east city limits of Phillipsburg to the Smith County line. The lane configuration east of Phillipsburg will remain unchanged.
During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane where crews are actively working and directed by flaggers and a pilot car. Delays of up to 15 minutes are possible. KDOT reminds motorists to stay alert, follow posted signs and refrain from using hand-held mobile devices in all active work zones.
The project is expected to be completed in early September, conditions permitting.
Venture Corp., of Great Bend, is the primary contractor with a total contract cost of $3.2 million. For more information, contact KDOT Area Construction Manager Dan Moore at 785-302-6205 or daniel.moore@ks.gov.
