Donna Marie Preston, 85, died on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Western Plains
Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on April 22, 1937, at
Thayer, Missouri the daughter of Donald & Opal (Hammond) Edwards.
She married William P. Preston on May 27, 1955, at Garden City. He died
on July 1, 1999.
Donna lived in several different places growing up including Chinook,
Montana, Hays, Kansas, Great Bend, Kansas, and Blackwell, Oklahoma, before
coming to Garden City and graduating from Garden City High School. She
was mainly a homemaker for her family but had also worked as a Medical
transcriptionist at St Catherine Hospital, substitute cook for Garden
City schools and receptionist at Garnand Funeral Home. She enjoyed
going to the Finney County Senior Center to play cards and also her
other card playing groups but her biggest joy was raising her kids and
grandkids.
She is survived by her 2 Sons- Billy & Ann Preston of Elk City,
Oklahoma and Rob Preston of Garden City, 4 Grandchildren and 2
Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband
and Brother- John Edwards.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home
with Rev Randy Caddell officiating. Burial will be in Valley View
Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 AM to Service Time
