One of the premier two-way players in Kansas and one of the top underclassmen in the country, Schmeidler helped lead TMP-Marian to a 29-2 record and a Class 2-1A state runner-up finish while establishing himself as one of the state’s most dominant players on both sides of the ball.

At the plate, the Kentucky commit hit .539 with a .651 on-base percentage and a 1.757 OPS, collecting 41 hits, including 8 home runs, 7 doubles and 6 triples. He drove in 48 runs, scored 35 runs and struck out just five times all season.

On the mound, Schmeidler was equally dominant. In 52.1 innings, he posted a 6-0 record, 1.34 ERA and struck out 96 batters while limiting opponents to a .155 batting average. He consistently delivered in big moments while serving as the ace of one of Kansas’ top pitching staffs.

A complete player with elite power, athleticism and pitching ability, Schmeidler’s impact was felt in every phase of the game, making him the clear choice as the 2026 Sports in Kansas Class 2-1A Player of the Year.

Schmeidler was joined on the SIK first team by fellow pitcher Carson Liles, catcher Caden Dinkel and utility player Grant Nehls.

Infielder Logan Baalmann was named to the second team. Jacob Seib, Ian Nehls and Connor Breit were honorable mention picks.

Fun note: Athletic excellence runs in the family. Ty’s sister, Jenna Schmeidler, was the 2026 Sports in Kansas Class 5A Girls Basketball Player of the Year and a Sports in Kansas Top 5 All-Class selection after helping lead Hays High School to another outstanding season as a sophomore.
