Theresa (Weigel) Klaus, age 79, of Victoria, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Via Christi Village Care Center Hays, Kansas.
She was born March 2, 1943, at Hays, Kansas, to Alfred G. and Mary Anna (Hammerschmidt) Weigel. She married Kenneth Klaus on July 30, 1960, and they later divorced.
Theresa grew up in Victoria, attended Victoria Schools, and later received her GED.She was a member of The Basilica of Saint Fidelis. She worked at the old St. Anthony’s hospital as a CNA, Travenol, and in the bakery at U-Save Grocery Store, all in Hays. She also worked a number of years at Total Convenience quick shop in Victoria, and Quick Connection quick shop in Gorham. Theresa was a quiet person who enjoyed her work, her family, and kept her mind busy by completing numerous puzzle books.
She is survived by her sons, Jan V. Klaus and wife, Josette, Hays, KS; Terence “Terry” Klaus and wife, Peggy, Victoria, KS; her grandchildren, Alyssa Dechant and husband, Josh; Kaley Klaus; Blake Klaus and wife, Macy; Trenton Klaus and wife, Jacy; her great grandchildren, Marley and Olive Dechant; Hensley and Brooks Klaus; Reiny Klaus; her sisters, Twila Weigel, Victoria, KS; Agnes Weigel, Salina, KS; and Stella Weigel, Salina, KS.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Alfred Thomas “Tommy”Weigel; her sisters, Norma Weigel, Kathleen Weigel; Betty Denning and husband, Dennis; and her nephew, Justin Denning.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis Victoria, Kansas, with Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap. officiating. A private family inurnment at Saint Fidelis Cemetery Victoria, Kansas will be held at a later date.
A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary, 412 Main Street, Victoria, Kansas 67671.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary Victoria, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis.
The family suggests memorials made payable to: The Basilica of Saint Fidelis or Hospice of Hays Medical Center in care of the mortuary.
