HAYS - The Hays High boys wrestling team advanced five wrestlers to Saturday’s Sub-State Tournament in Goddard.
Freshman Harley Zimmerman (13-4) and junior Gavin Meyers (20-0) both won regional titles at 126 and 220 respectively Friday at Hays High School. Dalton Dale (16-6) finished runner-up at 152. Cyrus Vajnar and Ashton Putz also move on.
Vajnar was forced to withdraw from his third place match due to injury.
Goddard won the team title with the Indians placing fifth with 99 points.
The top-four finishers in next week's sub-state advance to the state tournament at Hartman Arena in Park City on Feb. 26.
