HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs girls volleyball team earned a third-place finish over the weekend at the annual Mid-Continent League volleyball tournament in Hays at TMP.
The Monarchs finished 3-0 in pool play to earn a place in bracket play, picking up wins over Phillipsburg (25-15, 25-15), Trego (25-8, 25-12) and Norton (28-26, 27-25).
In the semifinals, TMP lost to Smith Center (28-30, 16-25).
They bounced back in the third-place match, handing Oakley only their second loss of the season (25-16 and 26-24).
Norton claimed the tournament title by beating Smith Center in three sets (16-25, 25-21 and 25-19).
The 2A regional assignments will be released on Monday.
