
Dermot Leo Randa, 64, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.
Dermot was born March 1, 1961, in La Crosse, Kansas, the son of Jerome W. and Agnes (Herrman) Randa. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. A 1979 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, he was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #2340, and a former member of Rush County Fire District #6, all of Liebenthal, Kansas. He was a member of the Virgil C. Dechant 4th Degree Assembly 3550, La Crosse, Kansas. Dermot was a Washington Redskins fan, and enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, and hunting. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Cedar Bluff Diehards, and a charter member of “The Rowdy Bunch”. Above everything, he loved his grandchildren. They were the light of his life.
On May 3, 2003, he married Suzanne Petersilie at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas.
Survivors include: his wife, Suzanne Randa, La Crosse, Kansas; two sons, James Bunting, Seattle, Washington, and Michael Resseguie, La Crosse, Kansas; two daughters, Heather Booth (Charles), Wellington, Kansas, and April Randa, Hoisington, Kansas; one step daughter, Farah Stude (Tim), Syracuse, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his mother in law, Mickie Malone, LaCrosse, Kansas; one brother, Darold Randa, Liebenthal, Kansas; two sisters, Coleen Janda (Michael), Salina, Kansas, and Christine Werth, Hays, Kansas; several beloved nephews and nieces; and an adopted pain in the a* * daughter (Dermot’s words), Tayci Helm, LaCrosse, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother in law, Ory and Sheila (Kultgen) Petersilie; a brother in law, Richard Kirby Petersilie; and a sister in law, Mary Ann Randa.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas. A vigil service and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:00 P.M.
Church visitation will be Friday, April 4, 2025, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:50 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas.
Funeral service will be Friday, April 4, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Liebenthal, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family request memorials to the Cedar Bluff Diehards Memorial Park Gazebo.
