HAYS – The Hays Larks scored at least one run in each of the first five innings Sunday on their way to an 8-1 win over the Colorado Springs Outlaws at Larks Park.

The Outlaws took the lead in the top of the first when they scored on an error but the Larks answered with two in their half of the first.

Corbin Truslow got the Larks on the board with an RBI ground out and then Hays took the lead when they scored on a wild pitch in the next at bat.

Over the next three innings the Larks scored two more runs on wild pitches and one more on an error to take a 5-1 lead in the fourth inning. Truslow added a two-run single in the fourth to blow the game open, 7-1. He finished with three RBI’s.

Paddy Walsh allowed just one unearned run in three hitless innings in his first start of the season. But he did not factor into the decision. Cole Zimmerman picked up the win with three shutout innings of relief.

The Larks improve to 5-1. They are at the Colorado Pirates on Tuesday.
