SALINA – The Hays High boys golf team finished third at Monday’s Salina South Regional at the Salina Municipal Golf Course and qualify for next week’s 5A State Tournament. The Indians shot a 323, 11 behind second place Great Bend and 39 back of regional champ Maize South.
It's the 12th straight year the Indians have qualified for state as a team.
Sophomore Braden Hoskins led the Indians with a 4-over-par 74 and tied for fourth. Senior Jason Krannawitter shot a 5-over-par 75 and finished in eight place.
Grant Waggoner of Maize South was the individual champ with a 2-under-par 68.
The 5A State Tournament will be held at Newton’s Sand Creek Station Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday (May 24-25).
