🥎 TMP-Marian sweeps Colby to open season

HAYS - The TMP-Marian softball team opened the 2021 season with a doubleheader sweep of Colby at the TMP Field. The Monarchs won the opener 4-3 in nine innings then outslugged the Eagles 18-15 in the second game.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 4, Colby 3 (9 innings)
Alexa Ryersee reached on a leadoff walk than scored the winning run on a throwing error following a Jessica Herrman single in the bottom of the ninth.

The Monarchs led 2-1 entering the seventh but the Eagles forced extra innings with a run in the top of the seventh.

Emilee Augustine scored the tying run in the eighth off of Halle Dreiling’s two-out double to left field.

Kyliegh Allen went the distance in the circle, allowing three runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.

Game 2: TMP-Marian 18, Colby 14
The Monarchs erased a 7-0 deficit with six runs in the second and six in the fourth. They added four in the bottom of the sixth to build a five-run lead. Colby answered with two runs in the top of the seventh and had the bases loaded with one out before Kyliegh Allen got a pup up and strikeout to end the game.

Allen pitched the final six innings in relief to get the win. She allowed 10 runs on 15 hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Starter Madison Augustine allowed five runs on four hits in one inning of work.

Allen and Hannah Garcia both had four of the Indians 21 hits. Emilee Augustine and Sophia Coulter both tripled and had three hits each. Augustine drove in four runs and Coulter two.
