🏃‍♂️ Tiger men and women win home meet

HAYS, Kan. - Both the Fort Hays State men's and women's cross country team captured the 2024 FHSU Tiger Open Friday morning at the Rolling Ridge Cross Country Course. The Tiger women top five combined for 17 points, with eight FHSU runners finishing in the top 10. The men had four runners inside the top nine and had 11 runners in the top 20 of the 49-man field.

Jaycee Vath won the women's race for a second-consecutive season, improving her time on the five-kilometer course by more than seven seconds thanks to her winning time of 18:17.0. Emma Weiner was close behind, finishing second in 18:19.7. Taylor Hoskinson notched a third-place finish, crossing the line in 18:33.8. Darian Hudgoens was fifth with a time of 18:43.3, while Makenzie Premer finished in sixth after traversing the course in 19:02.2.

Jaret Pfizenmaier was the top Tiger runner for the second week in a row, finishing second with a time of 20:07.2. Christian Darrah earned a third-place finish after crossing the line in 20:27.2. Brady Stegman completed the four-mile trek in 20:43.6 to finish fifth. Cole Krug finished ninth with a time of 21:12.7, while Kaiden Esfield traversed the course in 21:19.7 to finish 11th.

Kabelo Maja of Fort Hays Tech Northwest took home the individual title with a time of 19:57.2.  

UP NEXT

The Tigers will return to competition in two weeks when they travel to Columbia, Mo. to compete at the Gans Creek Classic on September 27. The men's eight-kilometer race is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. The women's six-kilometer race is slated to begin at 10:15 a.m.
