PRATT – Keamonie Archie broke a 52-year-old school record in the long jump to highlight the Hays High boys at the Pratt Invitational Thursday. The Indians won seven events and scored 139 points and won the team title by 48 over second place Goddard Eisenhower. The HHS girls won four events and also finished in first place with 104 points, 12 1/2 ahead of second place McPherson.
Archie had a leap of 24 feet, 7 1/2 inches which broke the old HHS long jump mark of 23 feet, 11 inches set in 1971 by Greg Nichols. Archie also won the 100 meter dash (11.08) and was on the first place 4x100 meter relay team along with Trent Summers, Malik Bah and Chason Venderwege. Harley Zimmerman won the pole vault (12-6), Kyreese Groen the triple jump (43-2) and Grayson Walburn the discus (147-10) and the shot put (44-7).
Kamani Jones finished second in the high jump (6-0) and triple jump (41-9.5). Other second place finishes included Wyatt Waddell in the javelin (179-6) and Elijah McCullough in the 3200 meters.
Lilian McGrath had two first place finishes for the Hays High girls winning the long jump (17-3.5) and she was a member of the first place 4x400 meter relay team along with Aralen Maupin, Brenlynn Albners and Amelia Jaeger. Katie LInenberger won the high jump (5-4) and Halle Lohmeyer the discus (114-10).
The HHS girls had four second place finishes. Maggie Lindenmeyer in the shot put (36-1.5), Aralen Maupin in the 400 meters (1:02.50) along with the 4x100 meter relay (Morgan Geerdes, Kamryn McCall, Amelia Jaeger, Lillian McGrath) and 4x800 relay (Avery Winter, Aralen Maupin, Brynn Kinderknecht, Brenlynn Albers).
