Hays USD 489 announced on social media Monday morning that Shawn Henderson has been chosen as the next principal of Hays High School starting with the 2021-2022 school year.
Henderson's contract was approved by the Hays school board in a special meeting Monday morning.
Henderson is replacing Martin Straub who is leaving the school district at the end of his contract this year.
Henderson is familiar to the Hays community as he served as the director of field experiences at FHSU, College of Education from 2015-2019.
Currently Henderson is the principal at Russell High School.
Henderson will bring lots of energy and enthusiasm and will continue to build on all the great things already established at HHS, the social media post said.
