⚽ FHSU's Madad and Valentin named GAC men’s soccer Players of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Ibrihim Madad and Jorge Valentin two of the three GAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week, released on Monday. Madad was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Valentin received Goalkeeper of the Week honors. They joined Alberto Romano of Newman University (Offensive Player of the Week) as the three honorees from the conference office. Both helped FHSU to a 2-0 start to the season with wins over Rockhurst and Upper Iowa.

Madad had the game-winning goal and played all 90 minutes in the 2-1 season-opening win against Rockhurst in Hays. In the 88th minute, he scored in the box off a corner kick from Tadhg Walsh that lifted the Tigers to victory. He also played all 90 minutes in the 1-0 win against Upper Iowa, helping the team to its first clean sheet of the season. FHSU allowed only one shot on goal in the match. The Tigers allowed only 7.5 shots per match for the week and only two shots on goal overall.

Valentin picked up the shutout win in a 1-0 result against Upper Iowa on Sunday in Kansas City. He had to make one save in the 19th minute to pick up his first victory and shutout at FHSU.

Tadhg Walsh was nominated for Offensive Player of the Week after recording assists on all three FHSU goals for the week.
