The Dane G. Hansen Foundation has awarded the Hays Area Bicyclists a $2,500 grant.

The Hansen Foundation grant will allow the Hays Area Bicyclists to improve the experience of cyclists who participate in Tour die Kapellen (TdK, TourDieKapellen.com/). TdK is an annual organized bike and bus tour to historic limestone churches in eastern Ellis County. The event is a joint venture between the churches and the Hays Symphony. Net proceeds for the event are distributed among the participating churches and the Hays Symphony.

“We are honored and thrilled to receive this grant”, said Kay Werth, president of the Hays Area Bicyclists. “This unique event reaches out to many cycling enthusiasts throughout the Midwest. It promotes our Northwest Kansas cycling, Ellis County’s Volga-German history, and our local symphony.”

Next year’s Tour die Kapellen will be held on July 12, 2025.

The Dane G. Hansen Foundation’s mission is to provide “opportunities for the people of Northwest Kansas to enjoy the highest possible quality of life. The foundation advances its mission by investing in the areas of education, health care, economic development, community social services and security, conservation and environment, arts and culture, and community beautification” (danehansenfoundation.org/about/).
