⚾ Larks use big inning to get past A's, remain undefeated

HAYS - The Hays Larks scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead and beat the A's 4-3 Friday night at Larks Park to remain undefeated on the season.

The Larks have now won 23 consecutive home games dating back to last season, surpassing the team record of 22 straight set from Jul 23, 2022 through July 18, 2023.

Omari Johnson hit a two-run homer to highlight a three-run top of the third which gave Dodge City () an early 3-0 lead. 

Cooper Holtorf drew a leadoff walk to begin the Larks (15-0, 11-0) third inning. Austin Crawford had a one-out single. Max Flowers was hit by a pitch with two outs to load the bases. Rayner Beane drew a walk to score the first run. Dylan LaRue followed with a bases clearing double to give the Larks the lead for good.

Carson Liles (2-0) pitched two innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts, two walks on one hit and picked up the win. Braden Cox struck out four with one walk and two hits over the final three innings for the save.

Starter Trent Baker allowed three runs on four hits with a walk and a strikeout over three innings.

Sean Keenen and Austin Crawford both had two of the Larks six hits. LaRue drove in three of their four runs.

UP NEXT

The Larks and A's will play at Cavalier Field in Dodge City Saturday at 7:00 p.m.  then return to Hays to close out the series Sunday night.
