TOPEKA—A Kansas man pleaded guilty to distributing obscene AI-generated images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the United State's Attorney.
According to court documents, Michael Steven Podrybau, 43, of Alton pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of obscene visual representation of the sexual abuse of children.
Between March 2023 and April 2023, Podrybau used the online communication platform Wickr Pro to distribute computer-generated images that were obscene and depicted minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Just before 8:30 p.m. May 10, police initiated a traffic stop in the 2100 block of 24th Street in Great Bend after receiving a Flock (License Plate Reader Camera) notification alerting officers to a wanted person, according to a social media report from police.
Police confirmed the driver identified as 42-year-old Michael Podrybau of Alton was confirmed as the wanted subject.
Officers arrested Podrybau for a warrant issued by the FBI on requested charges of distribution of obscene visual representation of the sexual abuse of children and for sexual exploitation of a minor of child, sexual abuse material.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 17.
